Hi Steve, the point of Asana is to prepare the body for meditation. If we get too wrapped up with asana we may find that we have no time for reflection which is what meditation is all about. Spend time on asana which has the beneficial effect on the body and clears the mind of mental disturbances.
With this now quieted mind, we sit for contemplation. We need to know what to contemplate on and an efficient way to do this. This comes to us by knowing what our motivation is for doing our practice. Then When we meditate our practice bears fruit and we progress along the path.
Peace and Love
In one of your ashtanga class’s, you were explaining that the purpose of asana was to get the body and mind in a state (for the want of a better expression) of clarity. Can you explain more or at least remind of what you actually said
Hi Granville,

Cheers
Steve
